Nuneaton's Carnival has been rescued just days after the historic event looked lost for good. The current committee announced earlier this week that it could no longer continue.

They said they had taken the 'difficult decision' to pull the plug on the event, which was first staged in 1930. But now a new announcement has been made - that it has been saved.

On the Nuneaton Carnival page on Facebook, it explains that a 'viable option' has been found for it to continue with a new team. Who is behind this new team is not yet known.

But CoventryLive understands that the hand over from the old committee to the new team will take place early next week. The news is set to be celebrated by the many left devastated that the event may not be held again.

The post reads: "We appear to have a viable option for Carnival to go forward with a new team and a new direction. We would like to wish the new committee all the best for the future and are glad to know Carnival will continue

"There will be one more update to come from the outgoing committee, before we finish."
