Doorbell camera captures 4am garden intruder getting instant karma for trespassing

A mum was awoken by an alert from her video doorbell camera capturing a stranger falling over in her garden at 4am. Kellie Evans, who lives in Bridgend with her husband and children, had been in bed sleeping when her phone notified her of the motion outside in the early hours of Sunday morning.

She initially thought it was one of her sons who had got outside, and alerted her husband Dominic, before going running towards the front door. But her husband looked out the window and realised the person outside was not a member of their family.

He shouted out 'what are you doing?' towards the stranger, who then ran off quickly. When they got back inside their home, they reviewed the footage that had been captured on the camera and were surprised by what they saw. It shows a man stumbling around their front garden before falling over. For the latest Bridgend news, sign up to our newsletter here.

Mrs Evans said: "We'd been out last night to an event - we never go out, got back home and went to sleep at about midnight. At around 4am, I was alerted to the Ring alert on my phone, and it turned out to be that guy.

"It was only when we got back in and locked all the doors again and watched the video back that I saw the extent to actually how funny it was. I thought 'What are the chances of catching that?'

"I was laughing, and I've probably watched it 100 times today, and it is probably just as funny as when I watched it for the first time. You feel sorry for the man at the same time, as you think, 'Oh, that must have hurt'. You could see he had his phone out, and he seemed quite stumbly.

"I was thinking, I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he wakes up and wonders: 'What the hell did I do last night?' being covered in bruises, as clearly he will not remember himself. Without a Ring doorbell we would never have known that someone had been out and stumbling around in our garden."
