A DORSET employer with hundreds of staff is planning to make jobs redundant.

Business services company Conduent says the decision is due to changing requirements of a client and “has not been made lightly”.

The US-headquartered business began as part of Xerox and its local office is at Discovery Court, Wallisdown.

A statement from the business said: “Due to a change in the services requested by a client Conduent, on January 17, 2023, began discussions with employees employed from its Poole operation about job reductions.

“Decisions affecting our workforce are the toughest decisions we make as an employer, and this decision has not been made lightly.

“The company has now entered an information and consultation phase with the affected employees.

“We have approximately 280 employees in this area, but only a portion of those will be affected. Most of the affected employees currently work from home and not just in the Poole area, but across the country.”

Conduent provides business process outsourcing processes which it says “ignite efficiency, savings and revenue growth across industries”.

It says 80 per cent of Fortune 100 companies and more than 500 government entities depend on it to “drive exceptional outcomes” for their organisations and customers.

It serves sectors including aerospace and defence, banking, insurance, media, manufacturing, energy, health, government, transport, retail and hospitality.
