Manchester City’s quarter-final hoodoo under Pep Guardiola has finally come to an end after they beat Borussia Dortmund to set up a mouthwatering clash with PSG.
City had been knocked out at the quarter-final stage in each of the past three seasons, having not made it past the last-16 in Guardiola’s first season in charge, but goals from Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden ensured the Spaniard will lead them into the last-four at the fifth time of asking.
Not that it was plain sailing. After a 2-1 first leg win, Jude Bellingham’s first Champions League goal had Dortmund on top at half-time courtesy of the away goals rule.
However, City had dominated possession and turned that into goals after the break as Mahrez scored from the spot before Foden found the back of the net via the upright to queue wild celebrations on the touchline.
