Dovestone Reservoir latest as man remains missing after falling from paddleboard into water

A man remains missing after falling into Dovestone Reservoir in Saddleworth, police have confirmed.

Underwater search teams will continue looking for him overnight, assures Greater Manchester Police, while urging the public to stay away from the search area. A man and a woman, thought to be a couple, both in their 20s, fell into the water off a paddleboard, at about 2.30pm today (Sunday, October 20).

The woman was rescued and treated for shock and hypothermia - but the man got into difficulty and the search remains ongoing. All the emergency services, including the Coastguard and Mountain Rescue, are at the scene, reports Manchester Evening News.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Underwater teams will continue to search Dovestone Reservoir overnight. The scene will be in place overnight and people are reminded to stay away from the search area.

"We are not stopping our search and are doing everything we can to locate the missing man. Thank you for your cooperation."
