On the day that the Labour leader made his keynote speech at the annual conference, Oliver Dowden says that, “the single best thing Keir Starmer could have done would have been to apologise for what Angela Rayner said.” Labour’s deputy leader has stood by her description of the Conservatives as “scum”. The new Tory co-chairman said Ms Rayner’s comments “are encouraging exactly this kind of hostile environment in politics which we want to move away from.”.
