A merciless water snake snares a helpless frog for breakfast - before swallowing it WHOLE.
The unsuspecting frog had been leaping from leaf to leaf in Shibpur, India, before coming to a gruesome end.
It was pounced on by a six-foot Keelback water snake - which took a whole 45 minutes to fully devour the hapless amphibian.
Wildlife photographer Rahul Bera, who captured the scene, said he had to lie perfectly still so as not to spook the snake during the hunting display.
Rahul, 27, said: 'I had to be extremely careful not to blow my cover, if the snake had got any idea of my presence nearby as a defence mechanism it would have regurgitated the toad and would have disappeared,' he said.
'A good 45 minutes later the snake was finally done with its breakfast and decided to soak up the very few sun rays making their way through a dense cloud cover overhead by placing itself atop of a water lily leaf.
'It was indeed a wonderful experience from me, from the very beginning till the end.'
