Downton Abbey film: Crawley family rush to welcome the King and Queen in newly released trailer

The first full-length trailer for the upcoming Downton Abbey film has been released.

In the two-minute clip, the Crawley family, who are in the process of reducing their expenses, receive news that the King and Queen are coming to stay at their residence.

The film is set in 1927, at a time when the Crawley’s fortune isn’t what it was once – but nevertheless, the family rush to make sure everything is in place for the royals’ arrival.

Their former head butler Carson agrees to return to the estate to help with the effort.

Members of the Crawley family are seen towards the end of the clip bowing as their royal highnesses make their arrival.

Downton Abbey, the film, will be released in September this year.

It stars Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle and Michelle Dockery, among many others.

The movie is being directed by Michael Engler and co-produced by Down Abbey creator Julian Fellowes.
