Downtown Mobile, Alabama, Flooded by Hurricane Zeta Storm Surge

Flooding hit downtown Mobile, Alabama, on October 28, as Hurricane Zeta brought a “dangerous storm surge” to the city, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

The National Weather Service said that water in parts of Mobile Bay rose to “major flooding” levels overnight on October 28 to 29.

The NHC had also warned of “strong, damaging wind gusts” overnight into October 29 across southeastern Mississippi, Alabama, northern Georgia, the Carolinas, and southeastern Virginia.

Fox10 News in Mobile reported that Alabama Power said power outages were also widespread due to Zeta, with approximately 163,000 residents without power in Mobile County, and nearly 500,000 without electricity statewide. Credit: persh_life via Storyful
