Dozens Arrested as Insulate Britain Protesters Block London Motorway for Sixth Time

A group campaigning for housing insulation in the UK caused traffic disruption in London for a sixth time on September 27, as they blocked a junction on the M25 orbital motorway near Heathrow Airport.

The Metropolitan Police said 53 arrests were made.

According to the group, 52 people took part in the latest protest, which was in breach of an injunction granted Highways England by the High Court last week.

The injunction said protesters “may be held to be in contempt of court and may be imprisoned, fined or have their assets seized.”

Footage sent to Storyful shows the protesters sitting across Junction 14 near Heathrow. According to police, some protesters used superglue to stick themselves to the road.

“We are more scared of climate change than we are of breaking an injunction. There are times when we have to step up and do what is right,” Insulate Britain said. Credit: Insulate Britain via Storyful
