Dozens of People Evacuated as Storm Michael Brings Flooding to Winston-Salem

Residents in the city of WInston-Salem, in North Carolina, were rescued by boat during flooding in the wake of Hurricane Michael, which had been downgraded to a tropical storm by October 11.

Footage shared by the city’s fire department shows two people being taken through floodwaters in an inflatable dinghy. The fire department said it had made “98 rescues in five hours”.
