Dozens Reported Killed in Strike on Gaza Humanitarian Zone

At least 40 people were killed, and 60 injured, in an Israeli attack on the al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, Gaza, local media reported, citing Palestinian Civil Defense.

A civil defense spokesman told Quds Press, “Estimations indicate that we are facing one of the most horrific massacres,” with “entire families” disappearing.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it struck “several terrorists who were operating within a command and control center embedded inside the Humanitarian Area.” It said three men killed were “directly involved” in the October 7 attack on Israel. According to the IDF, they were targeted “in a precise, intelligence-based strike.”

The IDF contested the reported death toll, saying, “According to an initial review, the numbers published by the Hamas-run Government Information Office in Gaza, which has consistently broadcasted lies and false information throughout the war, do not align with the information held by the IDF, the precise munitions used, and the accuracy of the strike.”

Hamas condemned the attack and said claims of the presence of “resistance fighters” were a lie," local media reported.
