Dr Dre boasts his daughter got into USC ‘all on her own’ years after making $70m donation

Dr Dre boasted in a now-deleted Instagram post that his daughter had been admitted to the University of Southern California “all on her own”, leading many to point out he made a $70m donation to USC in 2013.

The rapper, 54, posted a picture of himself alongside his daughter, Truly Young, with the caption: “My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own. No jail time!!!”

Earlier this month, the FBI and federal prosecutors arrested 50 people nationwide involved in a large-scale university admissions scheme to get students accepted into elite universities by helping them cheat on college entrance exams.

Several notable names were among those arrested, including Full House actor Lori Loughlin and Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman.

As several publications noted, including People, Dr Dre (né Andre Young) donated $70m to USC alongside producer Jimmy Iovine in 2013, in order to establish the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation.

The four-year undergraduate programme focuses on arts entrepreneurship, technology, design, and marketing. Its first on-campus building, named the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Hall, is scheduled to open this year.
