Dr. Dre says he's 'doing great' after hospital dash with reported brain aneurism

Dr. Dre has reassured fans he is “doing great” after he was rushed to hospital with a reported brain aneurism.

According to gossip website TMZ, the 55-year-old rapper was rushed by ambulance to Cedars Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles on Monday 4 January after falling ill.

Dr. Dre told his 5.2 million Instagram followers on Tuesday: “Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes.

“I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon.

“Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!”

The record producer – whose real name is Andre Romelle Young – is the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics, and was previously co-owner of Death Row Records.

His friends in the music industry were quick to offer him their support on social media.

LL Cool J tweeted: “Dre is recovering nicely.”

Ice Cube asked his fans: “Send your love and prayers to the homie Dr. Dre.”

And 50 Cent wrote: “get well dre, stress kills relax, [sic]”

Dr. Dre has admitted in the past to working extremely hard and being a “perfectionist” when it comes to making music.

The hip-hop mogul is currently in the middle of a divorce battle with his estranged wife Nicole Young.

She filed for divorce in July 2020 citing irreconcilable differences after 24 years of marriage, and has asked a judge to reject the prenuptial agreement she signed in 1996, claiming Dr. Dre ripped it up.

The couple have two children together: 23-year-old son Truice and 19-year-old daughter Truly.
