Dr Michael Mosley's wife says two breakfast foods could help you lose weight
The wife of the late TV health expert Dr Michael Mosley has shared two breakfast foods she believes could help with weight loss. Dr Clare Bailey was married to the late dieting guru from 1987 until his tragic death earlier this year.
Dr Bailey, who is very much an expert in her own right, and who worked with her late husband on a number of his popular books, recently said she is "slowly but surely" beginning to share more health and food content on social media. She added: "Not only is it important to me to continue to carry forward Michael’s legacy, but even in his absence, it’s a huge part of my life."
Dr Mosley's eating advice has focused in many cases on fasting, with his 5:2 and Fast 800 plans credited by many for losing weight and transforming their health. Hailing the Fast 800 method, Dr Bailey told her 213,000 Instagram followers about the benefits of protein.

She said: "Protein is a health all-rounder, essential for rest, repair, maintaining muscle mass, and reducing your risk of chronic illnesses like osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. Studies have also shown that it does wonders for weight loss, as it increases satiety, and can help to prevent weight regain. I recommend eating at least 60g of protein every day to ensure you’re optimally nourished."
Dr Bailey went on to explain her four "easy" tips to introduce more protein into your diet, adding: "If you're not getting enough protein, you'll be feeling hungry all the time", and therefore more likely to reach for snacks. One thing she suggested is to make sure you eat a protein-rich breakfast.
Two foods in particular the doctor recommends are eggs and smoked salmon, as these are likely to keep you feeling fuller throughout the morning. She also added that if you are to eat yogurt, you should opt for Greek yogurt as this has more protein than other versions.
Dr Clare went on to say that you should be having protein in every meal and that a great way to get extra protein is to use the Fast 800 protein shakes. She added: "Obviously real food is best, but that's an easy way of topping up your protein".
