Drag Race UK’s Michelle Visage teases plans for old-school hip-hop show
Michelle Visage is known for being the hard-to-please judge on RuPaul's Drag Race in the US, the UK, and Down Under, but she also loves to present a bit of radio.
Her Handbag Hits show on BBC Radio 2 is what you'd expect from someone involved with Drag Race, but in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy at Radio 2 in the Park, Michelle revealed that she's trying to score a show about a completely different music genre.
"I've been trying to pitch [a show about] old school hip-hop, ladies of hip-hop," she said. "People don't know that side of me, I grew up loving loving early hip-hop.

"I know we've got Romesh [Ranganathan] and DJ Spoony [presenting hip-hop shows], but I feel like Spoony, me and Romesh together would be fantastic."
Michelle also explained that radio is actually one of her favourite things to do, and wishes it wasn't so undervalued by the public.
"I think we take radio for granted because it's in our houses, it's in our cars, it's in our ears, and it's always something that's on the fringe of showbiz," she said.

"Radio personalities don't ever get credit that they deserve. With that said, we do it because it's a passion, and we love it. I love being in the radio."
Elsewhere in the interview, Michelle responded to the criticism about RuPaul's Drag Race UK — especially the upcoming series 5 — having such a focus on queens who are from or live in England, and especially London.
Drag Race UK series 5 begins September 28 on BBC Three and iPlayer. BBC Radio 2 in the Park performances can also be watched via iPlayer, while Michelle Visage's Radio 2 shows can be listened to on Friday nights or on demand via BBC Sounds.
