Dramatic footage shows firefighters tackling blaze at seafront hotels
Dramatic footage shows firefighters in Paignton combining their efforts to control a major fire that spread across two local hotels. Devon and Somerset Fire Service and Rescue had to send eight fire engines to control the fire alongside other emergency services such as the paramedics who had to aid one injured person who suffered from smoke inhalation.
Officers reported that an electrical fault set fire to two hotels in Devon last night (Tuesday, September 24) at around 11 pm. The fire began at the roof space of a property which then spread to the property next door. It has been confirmed that The Sea Spray Hotel and the Seahaven Guest House were the properties involved.
Within the video, which you can see at the top of this article, a sea of blue lights flickers whilst the road was closed. Emergency service vehicles were on standby as locals stand and watch the crews tackle the flames.

The first property that was caught on fire sustained approximately 50% by fire and smoke and 20% by water. The second property sustained approximately 40% fire damage and 20% water.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue stated: "The properties affected were The Sea Spray Hotel and the Seahaven Guest House in Paignton. A total of eight appliances were sent to this incident. We are unable to comment on the person involved, as they were taken to hospital due to being affected by smoke travel."
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police shared: "Police were called at around 11 pm on Tuesday 24 September following reports of a fire at a former hotel building on Beach Road, Paignton. Officers assisted with road closures and scene management while fire colleagues put the fire out.
"One person was taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering what was believed to be a panic attack. All other occupants were located safe. All road closures were lifted by 4.30am. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault."
