Dramatic Moment 'Courageous' Cop Saves Mom From Submerged Car as Kids Look On
A police officer from West Orange, Texas, has been honored by his department after saving a woman who had crashed her car into a pond while having a seizure.
Bodycam footage released by the West Orange Police Department shows the dramatic rescue carried out by Officer Charles Cobb on July 24.
The West Orange Police Department said Cobb was monitoring traffic when a child approached him.
The child said his mother, Jonquetta Winbush, had a seizure and crashed her car into a lake.
Winbush’s 12-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter were in the car at the time, reports said, but managed to escape.
The West Orange Police Department said Cobb was able to pull Winbush from the car and performed life-saving CPR on her before she was taken to a local hospital.
According to a local report, Winbush spent three weeks in intensive care, but was now "breathing on her own and was expected to make a full recovery.
On July 30, Cobb was given an award by the police department for his “outstanding and courageous efforts.” Credit: West Orange Police Department via Storyful
