Dramatic pictures show flames tearing through barn in North Yorkshire fire

Fire crews have been called to a barn in North Yorkshire after flames tore through the structure in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters were alerted to the incident in Brandsby near Easingwold around 4am on Monday, August 19. Crews from Easingwold Fire Station, Helmsley Fire Station - NYFRS, Acomb Fire Station and a water bowser from Boroughbridge Fire Station were also called to help.

Pictures published online by North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service show flames tearing through the barn and its contents while firefighters tackle the blaze. While crews attended, Tadcaster Fire Station were requested to standby at Malton until a fire engine which had gone to help had been returned.

The fire has now been 'scaled down' but two fire engines and crews are monitoring the area for the rest of the day. A spokesperson said: "We have recently returned from a fire near Easingwold, alongside crews from Malton Fire Station, Easingwold Fire Station, Acomb Fire Station and Boroughbridge Fire Station. The incident has been scaled down with two appliances monitoring it for the rest of the day. North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service #999family."
