Dream City readies Expo Easter egg drop

Mar. 29—What's it called when thousands of Easter eggs suddenly fall from the sky?

Members of Dream City Church are calling it Easter at the Expo.

Dream City Church is closing its doors for one day only and is holding its services at the Southeast Expo Center on March 31, Easter Sunday — with something special planned following the ceremony.

Plans call for the doors at the Expo Center to open at 9 a.m., with morning services at 10 a.m.

Following the service, a helicopter is set to begin dropping plastic Easter eggs, all with candy inside, from the sky.

How many are there? A lot.

"Forty-thousand eggs were stuffed! All by our church people," said Jessica Brenner, of Dream City Church.

That's not all.

"There will be tons of kids' activities," Brenner said.

Easter at the Expo is not just for those who attend Dream City Church. Pastor Mark Hennen said the entire community is invited.

"We're having a community event," he said. "There will be games and activities for all ages."

In addition to the regular church service, there will be age- appropriate classes for children while the main service is ongoing.

He said the precise time of the egg drop has not been set, but it will be follow the conclusion of the 10 a.m. service.

"Directly following the service, we're having a helicopter egg drop," he said.

Plans call for the egg drop to be in the open area to the east of the Expo Center building.

Two drops are planned, one for children up to 3 years old, and a separate one for older children.

Pastor Hennen reiterated everyone is welcome.

"We would like to have them," he said.
