Popstar Robbie Williams is reportedly set to become the newest X Factor judge on ITV1’s upcoming series.

According to reports, Williams, who recently appeared at the Soccer Aid footballing charity event will become one of the regular four-piece panel of the popular ITV series.

A source close to the Sun says that the Millennium singer, 44, will step in to replace Louis Walsh, 65, who has left the show after 13 years on the judging panel.

‘Robbie has always been Simon’s dream signing,’ the insider revealed.

‘Now it appears he’s finally going to get his man.

‘Over the past 12 months they’ve become close, as have their wives who are also pals.

‘There’s a deal on the table and Robbie is keen to do it. The hope is that the deal is days away from being signed and announced.’

But with Walsh’s departure and the potential of the Angels singer coming on board, there’s also talk of other fresh faces joining in what appears to be a big shake-up of the show.

Names like Ricky Martin, 46, and former Spice Girl Mel B, 43, are also rumoured to be joining the programme, but it’s still unclear who the final four will be.

So far, we know that Simon Cowell, 58, will be back and alongside Sharon Osbourne, 65, who only just renegotiated a £1 million deal to do less work that previous seasons by appearing in just the live shows.

In other Williams-related news, the star is set to perform at the opening ceremony for the FIFA World Cup this week in Russia. Williams is said to be ‘happy and excited’ about the prospect of fulfilling a long-time dream of his, as the tournament kicks off this Thursday.
