Driver arrested for mutliple offences after officers stop car in Tamworth

A man has been detained after officers found cocaine inside a sock during a stop-and-search in Tamworth. Staffordshire Police stopped a grey Mazda 2 on Marlborough Way, Wilnecote, after 3.30pm on Wednesday (November 6).

During a search of the vehicle officers found a sock with cocaine placed inside. A 36-year-old man, of no fixed abode, has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (cocaine), drug driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance and has been detained.

The force said: "A man has been arrested after officers found cocaine inside a sock during a stop-and-search in Tamworth. Just after 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 November), we stopped a grey Mazda 2 on Marlborough Way, Wilnecote.

"When they searched the car, officers found a sock with cocaine inside. A 36-year-old man, of no fixed abode, has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (cocaine), drug driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

"He remains in custody while our enquiries continue."
