Police have shared the astonishing sight they found when they arrested a drunk driver - who seems not to have noticed that he was missing a tyre.

Special constables from South Yorkshire Police arrested the driver after finding a badly damaged Peugeot in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, on Saturday night.

Listing the catalogue of offences the driver allegedly committed, the most shocking was that apparently he was so drunk he had failed to realise he was driving without a tyre on one wheel.

Sharing details of the arrest on Twitter, they wrote: "Specials from Rotherham found this Peugeot tonight and arrested its driver for an expired license, no insurance, leaving an RTC [road traffic collision], not showing up to court and last but by no means least, for driving whilst so incredibly drunk he failed to realise he was missing a tyre."
