A BRADFORD man has been banned from driving after being caught speeding at more than twice the speed limit.

Ahmed Hafejee, 42, of Carlisle Place, faced one charge of exceeding a 50mph speed limit in contravention of a local traffic order.

He was caught speeding by manned equipment in a Jaguar X-Type on the A57 in Sheffield on February 23, 2022 at just before 3.45am. The road had a legal limit of 50mph.

The court records state that the speed recorded by officers varied between in excess of 100mph and in excess of 120mph for a distance of about one mile.

Hafejee was disqualified from holding, or obtaining, a driving licence for six months for the offence.

He was fined £162 and also ordered to pay £620 costs and a £64.80 victim surcharge.

Hafejee changed his plea to guilty for the speeding charge after previously pleading not guilty. He was sentenced at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on March 20, 2023.
