A man has received a driving ban and a court bill for over £1,100 for a shocking speed limit breach. North Wales Police this year responded to concerns over speeding on a link road in Wrexham.

It saw a series of speed checks at Llan-Y-Pwll Link Road. While most drivers stayed within the 70mph limit a few were well over that.

Now one 48-year-old motorist has paid a heavy price. He was travelling at 110mph when he was pinged in April.

"This relates to a speeding offence on the Llan-Y-Pwll Link Road in April this year. Officers were conducting speed checks when they sighted a vehicle traveling at 110 MPH in a national speed limit zone." Sign up for the North Wales Live newsletter sent twice daily to your inbox
