Drivers face being TOWED by police in Birmingham amid warnings over poor parking. Motorists and drivers have been threatened with losing their vehicle for breaking rules in Birmingham, with a local road unit issuing the alert.

Washwood Heath Police wrote today (Saturday September 28): "College Road Jct St Saviours Road. Road safety is paramount - this is why we have issued tickets to a number of vehicles which were abandoned in the road and pavement inappropriately, putting other road users at risk."

"Great efforts, bread and butter. Long may it continue, let’s see. Enjoying this new zero tolerance approach in predominantly, dominent neighbourhoods," a social media user replied to the force on Twitter, now known as X following its rebrand.

Another said: "Well done. These drivers just don't care." Another typed: "Towing them would send out a stronger message." In response, cops said: "We've done it before, we'll do it again... Watch this space!"

"When the cats away the mice will play" keep your sterling efforts up ...." another said. Another asked: "Will you also be looking at the companies for 'use/cause/permit', if not owner-drivers?" A fellow road user asked: "I wonder how they will go on with electric vehicles? Surely because of the increased weight, they won't be able to carry so much load"

Another road unit in the south of England has also shed light on poor parking this weekend. The update came from a Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire police unit in the south east, with pictures of shamed drivers and vehicles posted to Twitter, now X.

It said: "Team A South A1M These vehicles were stopped traveling on a very wet A1m whilst clearly overweight. Weighed in at 27% and 55% over their permitted weight accordingly. Both vehicles prohibited from being driven and drivers prosecuted. RP78 410582 #youngdrivers"
