Driver dies after crashing into tree near Torquay
A man has died after a crash near Torquay on Sunday (November 10). The man was rushed to hospital after his red Nissan Note collided with a tree.
The incident happened on the A379 between Teignmouth and Torquay, near Maidencombe village at around 12:55 pm. The driver, aged in his 80s, was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. He passed away the following day.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall police shared: "Police have since been notified that the man died in hospital on Monday November 11. Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has relevant information or dash-cam footage, is asked to contact police via our website here or by calling 101 quoting log 340 of 10 November."
The road was closed for almost six hours to allow for collision investigation officers to carry out their examination of the scene.
