Driver fled scene after crash left man with fractured hip
Detectives are appealing for information after a driver fled from the scene of a crash that left a pedestrian with a fractured hip. Merseyside Police's Matrix roads policing unit has appealed for information after a serious fail to stop crash in Netherton earlier this month.
Officers were called to the junction of St Nicholas Drive and Fleetwood's Lane at around 6.50pm on Sunday, September 8 to reports of an unknown vehicle hitting a man in his 50s. The pedestrian was taken to hospital and found to have fractured his hip.
The driver drove away from the scene and police said officers are yet to trace them or the car, which has variously been described as a black Ford Focus, black Vauxhall Astra or a black Vauxhall Corsa. Policing Constable Lauren Smith, of Merseyside Police's Matrix roads policing unit, said: "The pedestrian sustained serious injuries which have required surgery, and continues to recover.

"We're keen to speak with anyone who saw this collision or was passing and captured the incident itself, or a vehicle matching this description. The driver may not have realised the seriousness of this incident at the time, and it is vital we find this vehicle and speak to the driver.
"We think the car was travelling from the direction of Edge Lane/Gorsey Lane, turned right from Fleetwood's Lane onto St Nicholas Drive, where the collision happened. We believe it was then driven onto the St Nicholas Drive estate."
