Driver Jailed After Damaging Police Vehicles During Motorway Chase in Essex

London’s Metropolitan Police released footage on July 10 showing a car being pursued along the M11 in Essex, England, on April 15. After damaging four police vehicles, motorist Shuahan Uddin, 27, was finally brought to a stop.

Police said the vehicle being driven by Uddin was “flagged up as being linked to an individual known for gang activity.”

This footage shows a police vehicle making contact with Uddin’s car, which then comes to a stop at the side of a road. Police surround the car and beat on the windows, then Uddin takes off again.

Police then box him in and bring the vehicle to a stop.

Uddin was sentenced to 16 months’ imprisonment. Police Constable Josh Haase said: “Uddin was intent on evading arrest at all costs and showed a complete disregard for the safety of police officers and other road users. The considerable damage caused to the police vehicles means several police cars are off the road for a considerable time whilst they are repaired. This was a sustained period of dangerous driving that was extremely fortunate not to cause a serious injury so it is right that Uddin will now spend a period of time in jail. Road traffic officers will continue to deny criminals the use of our roads and will continue to put themselves at the forefront of protecting the public.” Credit: Metropolitan Police Service via Storyful
