Driver who killed pedestrian in hit and run jailed for five years

A driver who fled after killing a pedestrian has been jailed for five and a half years.

Loislane Annon, 34, pleaded guilty for causing death by dangerous driving in South Norwood and she was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on Friday.

Vasile-Florin Olteanu, 38, was on his way to work when he was hit by Annon’s black BMW on Portland Road, South Norwood at 7.30am on April 14 2020.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, Mr Olteanu, originally from Romania, died at the scene.

Annon sped away from the scene prior and abandoned the vehicle close to her home.

She was arrested and charged following an investigation by officers from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command.

Annon, of London Road, Croydon was also banned from driving for eight years.
