Driver and passenger left man seriously hurt after car hits railings in Erdington

Police are appealing to the occupants of a car to 'do the right thing and come forward' after a passenger was seriously injured in a collision. A section of Chester Road is currently closed after a car hit railings at the junction of Kingsbury Road in Erdington just before 4.45am on Sunday (Nov 3).

The 24-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Two other people believed to be the driver of the vehicle and a second passenger left the scene. Police are appealing to them to do the right thing and come forward.

The force said: "We would like to speak with any witnesses or anyone with information, including dashcam footage, which may help with our investigation."

Meanwhile, National Express bus services 28, 67, 68 are on diversion. The bus company posted on X: "Due to an accident from Chester Road island to Spitfire island services will be diverted via the Fort parkway, Bromford Lane and Tyburn Road.

"Thank you for your understanding."
