Driver in Royal Stoke after car ends up on roof

A driver has been taken to Stoke-on-Trent's main hospital after overturning his car in a collision with two parked vehicles. Emergency services discovered the stricken car on its roof.

The alarm was raised on Whitmore Road, in The Westlands, at midday on Saturday.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We were called to Whitmore Road following reports of a collision. Officers attended and found a red Nissan Qashqai on its roof. It had been involved in a collision with a parked white Skoda Octavia and a grey Volkswagen Transporter van. The driver of the Nissan, a man, was assisted out of the vehicle and checked over by paramedics. The car was recovered from the scene."

One ambulance was dispatched to the crash scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a single-car road traffic collision on Whitmore Road. One ambulance attended the scene and found a car on its roof. An off-duty paramedic officer, who came across the incident, also stopped to render aid. The driver of the car, a man, had self-extricated prior to ambulance staff arriving on the scene. He was assessed and found with no apparent injuries but was conveyed to the Royal Stoke University Hospital as a precaution."

Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision. They should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 302 of September 22.
