Drivers Dodge Jackknifed Semis on Snowy M62 in England
Drivers on the M62 east of Manchester navigated around jackknifed trucks and piles of snow as winter weather caused hazardous conditions in the early hours of Friday, March 10.
Footage recorded by @Harriettx_ shows several stationary trucks and trailers on the snow-covered roadway. Another vehicle’s wheels are seen spinning as the driver attempts to move ahead.
“Playing dodgems here on the M62,” @Harriettx_ wrote on Twitter, “Don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this”.
Local media reported that some drivers were stuck on the M62 for up to seven hours, and that some were forced to abandon their cars.
A National Highways statement, cited in local media, said: “Heavy snowfall caused hours of delays between junctions 21 (Milnrow) and 22 (Denshaw) in the early hours of the morning and lane closures were put in place in both directions.” Credit: @Harriettx_ via Storyful
