Drivers have been told to complete a 15-minute task to prevent a £1,000 fine and autumn accidents. LiquidTech has issued a warning to drivers and says a downturn in weather before Christmas doesn't mean that drivers should avoid washing their car.

They advised: "Despite the risks, there are thousands of drivers out there who are oblivious to the hot water they could find themselves in if they let their car get too dirty. Drivers might be shocked to receive a £1,000 fine if the letters and numbers of a number plate can’t be read clearly.

"While a windscreen that is significantly obscured by dirt could see someone pulled over by the police." Liquid Tech also recommended that drivers thoroughly clean other external items to keep them safe behind the wheel, such as the door mirrors and lights.

They added: "As well as the number plate and windscreen, we recommend keeping head and rear lights clean along with mirrors inside and out. And don’t forget the interior too, as not only does having a clean car inside and out feel great, but it also means there will be no loose items that can hamper you while driving."

Washing-up liquid is engineered specifically to break down and remove grease, so it will strip any wax or paint sealant from surfaces on your car. Although it gets the car “clean”, dish soap will cause more harm than good and can even dull paint.

Baby soap is gentler than liquid dish soap and won't strip the paint protection if any wax or sealant is applied. Mixing an ounce of baby soap or pet shampoo per gallon of water produces a slippery solution that's sometimes used to install paint protection film experts say.

Hand washing naturally takes longer than an automatic car wash. It's a detail-oriented process with workers meticulously scrubbing and polishing. While this may seem less efficient, the resulting thorough and personalized service often leads to higher customer satisfaction.
