Motorists are being asked to avoid a notorious road in Denbighshire that was left “extremely icy” after an overnight freeze.

Difficult driving conditions have been reported on the B5119 from Rhyl to Meliden on a stretch of road known as the “Dizzy Bends”.

A Met Office ice warning for south and mid Wales ended at 10am this morning (Saturday, January 25). While the alert didn’t cover North Wales, an overnight dip in temperature was enough to cause problems on the B5119.

Anyone attempting to drive the road should exercise "extreme caution", said police. At 11am, the force said: “Officers are on scene and are awaiting highways attending to grit the road. Please avoid the area, if possible find an alternative route, if you have to travel this road please do so with extreme caution.”
