Drivers warned about little-known Highway Code rule during snowy weather
Snowy and icy conditions this week will rightly make drivers take extra care out on the roads. But motorists have been warned there are times when they could get into trouble for driving too slowly.
In tricky conditions, it's correct that drivers take extra care and if necessary for safety drive more slowly. But where road conditions are normal, motorists are reminded they shouldn't drive too slowly.
This could actually be deemed as an offence by police if someone was seen driving unnecessarily slowly in normal conditions, when there is no need not to be driving at or close to the speed limit.

We all know speeding is an offence, but fewer people are aware they could also get into trouble for driving too slowly. Of course, when it's snowy and icy it's sensible to take more care and drive at a slower speed. Motoring expert Markus Lindblad, from Northerner, said: "When the roads are icy or wet and visibility is bad, many of us take caution and drive slower.
"While this is often the safer and smarter approach, drivers can actually be penalised for driving too slowly. This lesser known offence can land a British driver with three points for simply driving too slow."
It comes as a number of other cold weather motoring rules are likely to be broken this week. These include driving with unsuitable gloves and footwear and failing to fully clear windscreens before setting off on journeys.
Temperatures are set to plummet towards freezing this week as an Arctic blast hits the UK, with snow forecast for some areas.
