The National Weather Service warned of dangerous driving conditions in parts of the northeast US due to heavy snow and icy conditions.
The winter storm was described as a “long duration” storm with snowfall arriving in central New York state at midday on December 1 and continuing into the evening. Snowfall was expected to exceed a rate of one inch per hour.
The adverse weather occurred as people travelled following the Thanksgiving holiday.
In a video shared by Colleen Hurley, chief meteorologist with WUTR/WFXV, snow can be seen covering the roads in central New York state. Hurley commented that visibility had dropped.
