Drone Footage Captures the Moment a Runaway Boat Spins Out of Control on Mission Bay

A day in the sun went awry for beachgoers in San Diego on May 23 when a runaway motorboat wreaked havoc on Mission Bay.

Local media reported that the motorboat’s occupants were flung overboard when the operator lost control.

In dramatic drone footage supplied to Storyful by three-times US National Boxing Champion, Danyelle Wolf, the boat can be seen circling uncontrollably in the middle of the bay as authorities close in on it.

Moments before this footage, the rogue boat collided with a sail boat. According to Wolf, the sail boat was operated by two boys — one of which sustained head injuries from the crash. No fatalities were reported from the incident. Credit: Danyelle Wolf via Storyful
