Drone footage gives incredible birds-eye view of The Hoppings as iconic Town Moor fair finally opens

Stunning drone footage has captured The Hoppings as you may never have seen it before.

The birds-eye view footage shows the iconic Newcastle fair as it prepared to finally open its doors to the public on Friday. The scale of the fair - and its 400 rides - can be seen in the video as it flies high over the length of the site.

This year marks the 142nd outing in the city for Europe's biggest-travelling fair and it is set to welcome the usual crowds of people who can enjoy a host of children's entertainment and live music alongside an array of treats being served at a range of outlets and its Feast Street food village.

The Hoppings officially opened on Friday and is now open from 2pm daily or 1pm on Saturdays until 11pm. The fair's ride list for this year boasts two new additions, in the shape of a 60m big wheel, the largest of its kind anywhere in Europe - and a must for thrillseekers, the XXL white knuckle ride.

As always the fair is completely free. However, you do have to pay for the rides, but cash points are dotted about the site.
