Heavy rain overwhelmed the Nooksack River and sent floodwater gushing into parts of northwest Washington on Monday, November 15, as an atmospheric river brought torrential rain to the Pacific Northwest.
This drone video, posted to Facebook by Katie Turner, shows the extent of the floodwater across the city of Everson, located in Whatcom County.
Whatcom County Government said around 500 people had been displaced due to the severe weather, with three shelters established at local school and church buildings.
The severe wind and rainstorms prompted Washington Gov Jay Inslee to declare a severe weather state of emergency in 14 counties.
