Drone Footage Shows Mudslide That Closed Colorado Highway
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) was forced to close highway 82 south of Glenwood Spring, due to debris along the roadway from a mudslide that happened on August 10.
Drone footage filmed by Barry Stevenson on August 11, captured the aftermath of the mudslide with multiple vehicles stuck on the side of the highway.
CDOT said the road would remain fully closed throughout Sunday night, with travelers forced to use the bypass of County Road 154 until Monday morning.
“With the amount of significant debris that hit the roadway, crews will continue to clear and haul away material all night long. As of 2 p.m., it is estimated that more than 50 truck loads of material have been hauled away,” CDOT said. “The goal is to open the highway fully by noon.”
