Drone Captures Thick Black Smoke Rising During Huge Warehouse Fire
Multiple fire and police crews worked to battle a warehouse fire that erupted in southern California on Saturday, November 9, which sent smoke wafting across parts of Kern County, local media reported.
Drone footage posted by Kern County Fire Department (KCFD) shows a large column of thick, black smoke from the fire on Saturday afternoon.
According to the department, the fire began on Saturday morning in southeast Bakersfield and generated a lot of smoke due to the affected warehouses being “packed floor-to-ceiling with plastic drip irrigation material.”
“The intense heat from the fire is causing the smoke to lift upward in an organized manner, carrying it high into the sky and minimizing smoke exposure to the community,” KCFD wrote.
The department added that crews would continue to work on the fire “well into the night” on Saturday until the fire was fully extinguished. No injuries were reported at the time of writing. Credit: Kern County Fire Department via Storyful
