Drones Detect Fractures Inside Bali's Mount Agung Volcano

Indonesian researchers deployed drones to survey Bali’s Mount Agung on Thursday, October 19.

The team from Indonesia’s Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) and the Gadjah Mada University used Buffalo FX 79 drones to fly over the 9,900 foot volcano and detected a widening crack in Agung’s crater.

Almost 100,000 people were evacuated from their homes in northwestern Bali in September after a surge in seismic activity from the volcano prompted fears of a imminent eruption.
