Drugs and cash worth £13,000 seized after police raid
A man has been arrested after a large amount of cannabis worth £13,000, cocaine and cash was seized following a police raid in Weymouth.
Dorset Police said that the cannabis weighed 'just shy' of 1kg after they raided the property with a warrant, with officers also finding Class A drugs there.
Police said the raid followed reports that large quantities of cannabis were allegedly being supplied from the address to young persons in the area, who police suspected of then selling it onto other young people.
Officers raised concerns over the alleged 'criminal exploitation of children and exposing them to substance misuse'.
The arrested man has been released under investigation while police make further queries.
"Recently officers from Weymouth & Portland executed a warrant at an address in Weymouth," police said.
"We executed the warrant following intelligence that an individual at the address was supplying large quantities of cannabis to young persons in the local area whom we suspected of then selling it onto other young persons.
"This was clearly of concern due to the criminal exploitation of children and exposing them to the risk of substance misuse.
"During the search just shy of 1kg of cannabis was located, an amount of Class A drugs, suspected to be cocaine, and a quantity of cash.
"The total street value of drugs and the cash was approximately £13,000 seized.
"One male was arrested and has been subsequently released under investigation whilst we make further enquiries into the matter."
Police added: "Officers will continue to take robust action against individuals identified as being involved in the supply of drugs, especially where children are involved.
"We were able to take this action and obtain the warrant off the back of intelligence that was shared with the police."
