'Unbelievable': Drunk driver found on motorway with no front tyres on his car

A driver was so drunk they were found trying to drive a car on the motorway without any front tyres.

The car was spotted by police in the early hours of New Year's Day.

The driver was found "struggling to drive" and on closer inspection, officers discovered the car had no front tyres.

Police arrested the driver on the M66 southbound, just prior to Junction 2 at the Heap Bridge Interchange in Bury, Lancs.

Traffic officers said it was "no surprise" to find the driver was drunk after a breath test.

The driver was arrested on the spot.

Greater Manchester Traffic Police said in a tweet: "Driver stopped by #traffic on the M66 SB prior to Jct 2 when they noticed a vehicle struggling to drive as it had NO front tyres!!

"No surprise when the driver was arrested after providing a roadside breath test of 196!! #fatal5 #nonefortheroad #XT"

Police described the photos as “unbelievable” in a Facebook post.
