Singer Dua Lipa is the latest in a string (pun intended) of celebs to revive one of the most controversial trends from the noughties - the exposed thong. (Or, the "whale tail," as you may have heard it referred to if you had the unique joy of attending secondary school in the 2000s.)

On holiday in Mexico with boyfriend Anwar Hadid, Dua is blessing us with some seriously beautiful, wanderlust-inducing content. (When can we go on holiday, again?) In her latest Instagram, she's wearing a *v* sexy black evening dress by luxury designer Mônot. The label, known for daringly high thigh splits, backless dresses, and high-octane glamour, sells gowns that might set you back roughly a cool one thousand pounds.

The stylish halter neck dress features diamond-shaped cutouts around her midriff, and the barely-there back consists of two thin straps approximately as wide as my nighttime skincare routine headband. The dress also has built-in straps that look like a g-string thong, though it is attached to the dress. It reminds me of that dress Hailey Bieber wore to the 2019 Met Gala.

Dua finished the look with a cool nail art mani, chunky gold jewellery, and tousled waves. In one snap, we see her looking super loved-up with Anwar, who is wearing his own major look - a Mickey Mouse shirt with a Prada logo tie. Talk about a stylish couple.

Dua isn't the only celeb to bring back this trend - recently, we've seen Kim Kardashian wear a red thong peeping out from a low back dress. And we just saw Cardi B style out an exposed thong paired with leather cargo trousers. Clearly, this look is having a *moment.*

What do you think - will an exposed thong be making an appearance on your next night out (whenever that may be?)
