Dublin Airport departures suspended after dog spotted on runway
Departures at Dublin Airport were suspended for a brief period on Saturday after a dog was spotted along the runway.
Airport Police and Airport Fire and Rescue teams were tasked to the incident just after 2:30pm, after the dog was spotted on the airfield. The crew worked to return the dog to safety.
It was being cared for at the Airport Police K9 facility and was due be transferred to the Dogs Aid dog sanctuary.

"Ruff situation at Dublin Airport," teenage aviation journalist Shauns Aviation shared on his popular social media page.
"Just over an hour ago, there was a dog loose on the runway... yes, you heard that right, a dog. Operations vehicles and a rescue vehicle were sent out on hot pursuit of the four-legged trespassers who held takeoffs for 30 minutes."
Dublin Airport confirmed that operations were suspended for around 20 minutes on Saturday afternoon.
"Departures off the North Runway at Dublin Airport were suspended for around 20 minutes on Saturday afternoon after a dog was spotted on the airfield," Graeme McQueen, Media Relations Manager at daa, the operator of Dublin Airport told the Irish Mirror.
"Our Airport Police and Airport Fire and Rescue teams worked together to return the dog to safety. The dog was unharmed and is being cared for at our Airport Police K9 facility and will be transferred to the Dogs Aid dog sanctuary later today."
