A manhunt has been launched after two innocent people were shot dead at a family home in Dublin.

A woman aged in her 40s and a man in his 30s, both described as “completely innocent” by security sources, were shot dead by their attackers who burst into the house and starting firing on Wednesday afternoon.

The man was holding a baby in his arms when he was shot at, according to local news reports. Two other people were injured in the shooting.

The baby was also injured after he was reportedly “thrown for his own safety”.

“Gunmen deliberately tried to shoot a man dead as he held a baby in his arms.”

Police said a silver Opel Zafira was found partially burnt out a short distance from the scene of the shooting. A second car, a grey Volkswagen Golf, which police believe was also involved in the attack was discovered in Santry.

The area was sealed off while forensic officers carried out examinations.
