The Duchess of Cambridge sported a daring new hairstyle as she attended the Royal Variety Performance with her husband on Thursday evening.

Kate Middleton wore her hair in curls pulled to one side for the star-studded event at the Royal Albert Hall.

Before the show, she was handed a bunch of flowers by 10-year-old Poppy Clee and the show programme was given to Prince William by Rowan Clarke, also 10, who was asked what music he liked by the duke.

The couple mingled with Ed Sheeran, Cirque du Soleil, James Blunt, and Sir Rod Steward who are to perform at the event.

Kate looked exquisite in a shimmering floor-length green gown with matching stilettos and gold earrings by designer Missoma London.

She previously appeared in the Jenny Packham dress during an official visit to Pakistan in 2019.

Decorated with crystals across the bodice, waist and cuffs, Kate sparkled under the chandelier of the famous theatre on Thursday.

Host Alan Carr greeted the royal couple with a joke, telling William he was “not hitting on his wife” after complimenting Kate.

The comedian said to the duchess: “You look absolutely beautiful.”

Addressing the duke, he added: “Sir, I am sure you do not know who I am but I am not hitting on your wife.”

William and Kate were greeted by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant Colonel Jane Davis as they attended the recording of the Royal Variety performance.

They were introduced to chairman of the Royal Variety charity Giles Cooper and life-president Laurie Mansfield who will host the duke and duchess in the Royal box.

“It it fabulous that it is back, doing entertainment for a full audience of 5,000 people. It is just remarkable in these times for the charity, it is a godsend,” Mr Mansfield said.

Prince William wore a classic tuxedo at the annual charity event.

It comes as his father Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall completed their third day of their Middle East tour.

Camilla looked radiant in white as she and Prince Charles attended the centenary celebration on Wednesday.

The following day, they were welcomed by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the First Lady Entissar Amer of Egypt.

The couple marvelled at the Great Pyramid of Giza after the Prince of Wales held talks with the Egyptian leader.
