The Duchess of Cambridge wears face mask in public for first time

Forget sunglasses and hats, bags and bling, face masks have become the 'It' accessory of 2020 (and maybe even 2021, too.)

And while we navigate the perils of mask-wearing (maskne is no joke), one public figure who looks as effortless as ever in hers is none other than the Duchess of Cambridge.

Sporting a ditsy floral-print mask, the 38-year-old visited the Baby Basic UK shop in Sheffield, marking the first time that the mother-of-three has been pictured wearing a face covering in public.

Kate kept the rest of her ensemble pared-back; she wore the Suzannah white shirtdress which she wore for Wimbledon last summer and silver glitter pumps, which appear to be one of her favoured Jimmy Choo Romy style.

She also sported white latex gloves, as she carried boxes. Along with the Duke of Cambridge, Kate spent the majority of lockdown at the Cambridge's family home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where she homeschooled her three children.

Baby Basics UK is a charity which works with midwives, health visitors and other agencies to provide essential items such as equipment, clothing and toiletries to families in need.

It is now law to wear face coverings in enclosed public spaces in England, which includes shops, offices and supermarkets. Those who fail to do so face a penalty in the form of a £100 fine.
